This beautiful Caribbean island with almost 3 million people actually helped in the evangelization of West Africa years ago. Today, however, Jamaica is facing serious problems of poverty, violence, drugs, and immorality. It has one of the world's highest rates of homicide. There needs to be a turning back to God.
For over 20 years OAC Jamaica has been proclaiming the gospel in the open air and public schools. Over one million have attended these outreaches. At open air meetings in Kingston, people listen to the gospel presentation for up to one hour. Local church members counsel some for salvation. In schools, thousands attend assemblies, and many pray to trust Christ as Savior. Some teachers tell of how they came to Christ at one of these assembly programs years ago when they were students. At the main hospital, expectant mothers attend weekly evangelistic services, with many responding to Christ. Less than 15% of all children are born to married couples.
God is at work in Jamaica, where the real beauty of the island is found in the lives that have been transformed by the power of Christ.
